The Kennel started over 30 years ago by Jim and Marge Cook encompasses all endeavors that Bassets can do. As of May 2010, we have produced:

WHAT DO ALL THOSE LETTERS MEAN?
In addition to the well-known Conformation championships, the American Kennel Club (AKC) awards a number of other suffix titles to exceptional dogs, including:

The above titles always appear after the dog's registered name; for example, Ch. Bugle Bay's Betty Crocker TD ROM.
The "Ch" preceeding her registered name indicates that she is a Conformation Champion...the best of the best. The "TD" indicates Tracking Dog; the "ROM" is Register of Merit, indicating that she's produced at least five puppies who have received AKC titles (males must sire 7 or more titleholders to earn this title); the ROM is awarded by the Basset Hound Club of America.

Even MORE TITLES

Our Hounds are noted for their great dispositions, along with their other all-around features. They are friendly as family companions, and possess great stamina and pizzazz as show dogs. Most of the show dogs garner dual or triple titles, and several have four different titles (much to the owner's delight). Our Dual Champion, Bugle Bay's Anise O' Stillhouse TD, is the only Bench Champion to ever win the Basset Hound Club of America's National Field Trial. Her sister, Dual Champion Stillhouse Abigail CD, TDX, is the only Basset to earn all four of these titles. They are two remarkable sisters, as together they produced fifteen champions, one field champion, two TDs, and one TDX.

	Marge teaches ring, obedience, and tracking classes. The Bugle Bay puppies and adults live in a home environment, ensuring very well socialized pups. All youngsters have health checks before leaving for their new homes. All dogs have been given eye checks, as glaucoma is the most worrisome disease in Bassets (and genetic in origin).
As seen above, the Hounds have their own wing of the Cook home (with doggie doors for outside access). In this way, our puppies learn by example the rules of proper behavior and getting along with humans.	We have several litters each year; within a litter, some puppies are deemed "show quality," while others are "pet quality." Puppies sold as pets have received the same loving care, and their owners all agree that they're truly outstanding pets...and cherished family members.
